Innovative Methods for Raising Capital
Vancouver, B.C., March 3, 1997 - UBC and the Canadian Intellectual Property Office are pleased to have Vancouver lawyer Gary Dunn at its Intellectual Property Workshop which takes place May 5-8, 1997. The Intellectual Property workshop is a new initiative of Continuing Legal Education to provide relevant and quality services to the technology sector. Dunn will speak with CA Wayne Stone of Wolrige Mahon on the topic of "Successful Financing, Sales and Marketing Management of Intellectual Property."
"There are a number of innovative and effective options for raising capital of special interest to businesses of any size", says Dunn, whose preferred area of practice is in intellectual property and business law in the high-technology sector.
Financing and the search for the appropriate financing vehicle are problem areas for all businesses, but pose even more of a challenge for high-technology companies, given the volatile nature of the industry. "Clearly the key to business success lies in the development of leading-edge products, an impossible task without the necessary financing. And much of the battle to raise capital can be won simply by taking advantage of little known options already available to business. My goal is to shed light on methods such as licensing and tax credit," explains Dunn.
Gary Dunn has over 20 years experience practicing corporate law in Vancouver. In addition, he is a regular speaker on business and technology issues. Dunn also teaches the legal and ethical aspects of commerce on the Internet for the UBC Continuing Studies' Internet Publishing Program.
