Law and Electronic Commerce Merge at Comdex Pacific '97

"The quest for information and entertainment has dominated the Internet in recent years," explains Dunn. "Now many experts find that commerce is fast becoming the major force on the 'Net. With this new way of doing business, an array of associated issues now have to be tackled, such as taxation, copyright protection, law enforcement, consumer protection and security issues."

Gary Dunn, a Vancouver lawyer with over 20 years experience in corporate law, has focused his practice on law and how it relates to new technology businesses, effectively merging his two main interests. Comdex Pacific is an annual trade show that showcases the latest in hardware and software products, as well as offering discussion sessions and workshops on key issues affecting the industry at large.

"I'm looking forward to participating in the Comdex Pacific Electronic Commerce panel," says Dunn. "I enjoy the dynamic dialogue that often develops between panel members and the audience. It is intriguing to consider and reflect on the experiences of members of the high-tech community who are trying to come to grips, as we all are, with this new field of Internet commerce. Hopefully, my fellow panel members and I will shed some light on these complex issues and offer some practical guidelines for conducting business on the Internet.
